In many organizations, communication is a key part of the work performed. And because communication is such a vital part of the experience in any organization, there are definitely some basic principles involved.

What are these principles? Let’s refer to them as C3P regulation. In no particular order, here they are: Carrying out communication effectively in an organization depends on three main factors: Communication strategy, channel selection and information processing speed. Each requirement must be followed in order for the process to work effectively and efficiently.

Communication in an organization requires a strategy in order to function properly and in turn, the strategy is made of different parts. For example, what information do you need to provide? What information do others need to provide? What will facilitate the flow of information and how do you plan on communicating this information with each other?

In addition, how will this new form of communication affect the structure of your organization? In other words, there needs to be a plan of action so every individual knows what they are responsible for. This way everyone can get on the same page. A person who understands their role and the role of others will feel a greater sense of purpose and therefore can be more productive at work.

The last main aspect of communication is the channel selection. There are many different types of communication and they can be divided into two categories: unidirectional and bidirectional. Unidirectional communication, which includes mass media and advertising, can be an effective method of communication because it provides people with information that they wouldn’t usually have access to otherwise. However, unidirectional communication can be perceived as authoritative or manipulative depending on the message being sent out. Regardless, it is not the most efficient form of communication because there is no opportunity for an individual to ask questions or to make further inquiries about something that may still seem unclear.

On the other hand bidirectional communication, which includes spoken or written communication, is a more effective form of communication because not only are the sender and receiver both generally equipped with the same information, but also there is room for clarification. When an individual receives an update from someone face to face or in writing, that individual can refer back to it should anything seem unclear. They can then ask follow up questions about what they are unclear about and there will be a record of that person’s inquiry in case something comes up later on.

Finally, the last aspect of C3P regulation is the information processing speed. Information can be sent out in a receipt of transmission, which would be the fastest. The second method of information transfer is batch processing, which often occurs two or more times a day. And then there’s on-line real time, where information is uploaded as it’s being processed.

But no matter how quickly the information is being processed it still needs to be organized or structured so that everyone can have full comprehension of what’s being said or written.
